Workshop on mapping of key pollinator areas and Buzz-Lines
A dedicated workshop on "Mapping of Key Pollinator Areas (KPAs) and Buzz-Lines" brought together scientific and policy experts from DG ENV, the European Environment Agency (EEA), the European Topic Centre on Biodiversity and Ecosystems (ETC-BE), the Joint Research Centre (JRC), and various Horizon-funded projects. The event focused on advancing a central objective of the EU Pollinators Initiative, A New Deal for Pollinators: the identification and mapping of KPAs across European landscapes, including both protected and non-protected areas, as well as evaluating the potential for habitat connectivity, known as Buzz-Lines.
During the workshop that took place on the 3rd of July 2025, Professor Denis Michez presented the WildPosh project, with a particular focus on the spatial data activities of Work Package 4 (WP4). An important point of discussion was the potential to use the WildPosh database to detect and delineate Key Pollinator Areas.
